Abstract. Symmetrical diselenides and disulfides were synthesized and characterized. Using the example of the preparation of di(isopropyloxycarbonylmethyl) disulfide, the optimal conditions for the synthesis of disulfides were found. The structure of the resulting compounds was confirmed by elemental analysis, IR and PMR spectroscopy. Tests carried out in MS-20 oil showed the high extreme pressure efficiency of the synthesized compounds. Studies of the lubricating properties of diselenides and disulfides were carried out on a four-ball friction machine (ChShM-1). Comparative studies of the compounds synthesized by us were carried out in the composition of MS-20 mineral oil. The optimal concentrations of the obtained compounds were selected. It has been revealed that diselenides and disulfides have fairly high antizair properties. As the length of the alkyl radical of compounds increases, the extreme pressure properties deteriorate somewhat. Di (isopropyloxycarbonylmethyl) disulfide can be recommended as an additive to mineral oils.
